Crafting with…Courtney! Episode 45: Urn’t You Special
Hello everyone, and welcome to the forty fifth episode of “Crafting with…Courtney!” I’m here to make crafting fun, easy, and good for you!
Some of the most powerful things you can make in Cannith Crafting have special recipe ingredients required to make them. While adventuring, you may come across something like a Mystical Bottle or Urn, and think to yourself, “What’s this thing for, and why is it Mystical?” I may not be able to answer the latter question, but these items are for crafting!
In general, it’s always a good idea to keep at least one of these items in your ingredients bag, if you think you’ll be making any of these shards. Almost all of these special ingredients will be used to craft items that you’ll use later in the game, so newer players and beginner Cannith Crafters may want to simply hang onto this stuff for the future. These items will largely come from the end reward lists you’ll see after completing a quest chain, or be acquired by purchasing them from favor vendors.
Let’s create a chart showing the ingredient, where you can find it, and what it’s used for:
|Mystical Bottle||The Red Fens||Metalline|
|Mystical Dried Fish||Sorrowdusk Isle||Dusk|
|Mystical Goblet||Ruins of Threnal||
Greater Chaotic Outsider Bane
|Mystical Plant||The Vale of Twilight||
Attack Bonus +4
Greater Lawful Outsider Bane
Greater Plant Bane
|Mystical Urn||Necropolis (end reward list pt. 3/4)||
Greater False Life
|Mystical Vessel||Hiding in Plain Sight or The Restless Isles||Resistance +5|
|Mark of House Cannith||50 House Cannith Favor or DDO Store*||Shard of Masterful Craftsmanship I|
|Mark of the Silver Flame||400 Silver Flame Favor*||Holy Burst|
|Mark of the Yugoloth||75 Yugoloth Favor*||Attack Bonus +4|
|Purified Eberron Dragonshard Fragment||Acquired through trading with crafting vendors**||
Numerous high-level shards
*These marks can also be found rarely in regular chests throughout the game.
**Purified Eberron Dragonshard Fragments are acquired by trading certain items to the crafting vendors located in the north and south ends of the crafting halls. Items that can be traded for varying amounts of Purified Eberron Dragonshard Fragments include +1 and +2 tomes, Epic Dungeon Tokens (1 token=1 Purified Eberron Dragonshard Fragment), Astral Diamonds, and Small, Medium, or Large Eberron Dragonshards, which are rare collectibles found in collectible locations throughout the game.
You’ll notice that the Mystical objects are all Bound to Account, while the Marks are only Bound to Account if you get them from a favor or crafting vendor. Marks found in chests are Unbound! Purified Eberron Dragonshard Fragments are Bound to Account as well. This is nice if you want to pass them to another character on your account!
This list just includes items that are used specifically for Cannith Crafting; there are other rare-ish ingredients that you may need as well, but that also have a use outside of Cannith Crafting. Large Devil Scales and Demon’s Blood are used to make a Greater Evil Outsider Bane shard, for example, but the scales are used in Greensteel crafting as well, and the Demon’s Blood is used to make Boots of Anchoring. In a future column I will look further into the items acquired through questing that can also be used in Cannith Crafting.
